Chilanga
Tradition: Cream Paste Fine Ware
Group: Chilanga
Type: Chilanga Rojo
Variety: Osicala
Phase: Late Acbi, Acbi/Coner Transition, Early Coner, fades out in Late Coner
The Osicala variety has several forms: (sub)hemispherical bowls, collared bowls, bowls with slightly outcurving/flaring walls, cylinder vessels with vertical or slightly barreled walls, small cups with vertical walls, and vessels with in-curving upper walls and flat base. Various designs are painted with red pain on the exteriors with either a negative-painted or plain orange slip base. It is common for particular motifs to coincide with specific forms. Both the interior and exterior rims posses a red-slip band.
